What is the anti-dripping agent and it’s application?

The fluorine chemicals used as additives in engineering plastics are mainly polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Polytetrafluoroethylene is mainly used in two aspects in the field of engineering plastics: anti-dripping agent and wear-resistant lubricant. The chemical composition of the anti-dripping agent and wear-resistant lubricant is polytetrafluoroethylene, the difference is that the molecular weight of anti-dripping agent is about 400-5 million, and the molecular weight of wear-resistant lubricant is about 300000. The macromolecular polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fiberizes to form a reticular structure under the action of the shear force of the screw, which plays a role in preventing dripping. Small molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene and the role of demoulding.

Anti-low drop agent is mainly used in plastic materials that need flame retardant grade up to V0, which can prevent melting dripping and improve flame retardant performance. when reducing the amount of flame retardant, it can also meet the requirements of UL V0, colleagues can reduce costs and enhance the competitiveness of products. Among them, PC, PC/ABS is the most commonly used. In addition, it is also widely used in PBT, ABS,HIPS, and other materials. PA, PP is a crystalline polymer with poor compatibility with polytetrafluoroethylene. The anti-dripping agent is not easy to use in these two materials, and it is easy to swell if it is not well controlled. It is recommended to use pure powder anti-dripping agent in PA,PP. There are three main types of polytetrafluoroethylene used as anti-dripping agent: emulsion type, pure powder type and coated type.

When the emulsion type anti-dripping agent, polytetrafluoroethylene is dispersed in the water through the action of some dispersants to form a suspended emulsion, because it contains about 40% water (the rest is PTFE) and PC is easy to hydrolyze, so it has higher requirements for equipment and technology. At present, there are few domestic modification plants using emulsion, mainly some Japanese manufacturers, if we can make good use of emulsion anti-dripping agent, the production cost can be reduced, the production of emulsion anti-dripping agent manufacturers mainly DuPont, Dajin, 3m, Solvary and other few PTFE synthesis manufacturers.

The coated anti-dripping agent is mainly when the PTFE can be better dispersed in the raw material resin during the fence, but the outer layer of PTFE is coated with a layer of SAN or PMMA, PS, so that the anti-dripping agent can be well dispersed in PC, ABS, HIPS, etc., but the coated anti-dripping agent is difficult to use in PA, PP because the compatibility of the outer coating with these two materials is too poor.

The pure powder anti-dripping agent is pure polytetrafluoroethylene powder. At present, most of the models used in the market are FA-500 of Dajin Company, and DuPont and 3M have related products. The premise of good use of pure powder anti-dripping agent is how to solve the problem of dispersion. Nowadays, most of the manufacturers who produce pure powder anti-dripping agent will carry out sintering treatment on the product surface, which greatly increases the fluidity and dispersion of the products. So that the product in the pre-mixing can be well dispersed and not easy to advance fibrosis. Compared with the early pure powder anti-dripping agent without sintering treatment, the dispersion performance is much higher. The use of pure powder anti-dripping agent should pay attention to the following points in terms of dispersion:

1. The powder of the pre-mixing process is carried out in two steps, and now the anti-dripping agent is mixed with the powder or granular resin raw material, and the content of the anti-dripping agent is controlled at 3-10%. The time is about 90s and the speed is less than 900 rpm.

2. Mix the premixed resin with the pure resin raw material and dilute it to the final desired content, such as 0.3% (time: about 120s, speed less than 450 rpm/powder).

3. Reduce the processing temperature in the screw extruder as far as possible in the range of operating conditions.

4. Increase the shear force of the screw as much as possible within the access allowed by the working condition.

5. Strictly control the water branch content in the system (about 0.05% Mel 0.5%) the pure powder type anti-dripping agent has more competitive advantage than the coated type anti-dripping agent. First of all, reflected in reducing the cost, pure powder anti-dripping agent PTFE content of 100%, to achieve the same effect will be lower. Secondly, the pure powder anti-dripping agent added to the plastic material will not bring impurities, the coating of the coated anti-dripping agent is actually an impurity relative to the final product, which will have some impact on the physical properties of the material. In addition, because the pure powder type anti-dripping agent does not introduce impurities, it can be added in a large amount (the maximum addition of the coated type anti-dripping agent can only be 0.5%), thus it can better reflect its effect in the sample of 1 inch 32 inches or even 1 inch 64 inches.

Anti dripping effect for green film

While Wanda Chemical is also a leading and professional manufacturer of PEFE micron powder , anti-dripping agent is belong to PTFE, it’s easy for us to produce it, currently we produce two types anti-dripping agent, once is powder type, another is coated type; andour anti-dripping agent PTFE content can make sure to reach 50%, not less it.

Below is the advantage of our Anti-dripping agent:

  1.  Meet with the requirements of regulation UL 94
  2.  Excellent dispersion in resin
  3.  Free flow powder
  4.  PFOA free
  5.  Excellent injection product surface
  6.  Small (0.1~0.5)% dosage ratio, the effect is obvious
  7.  Annual output is 200,000 tons/year
